The ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Faces Major Surgery and Fans Rally with Love and Support
Si Robertson, affectionately known as Uncle Si from the hit reality TV show “Duck Dynasty,” has captured the hearts of fans with his humor and unique personality. Recently, however, Uncle Si’s health has become a cause for concern, prompting an outpouring of support and prayers from fans around the world.
In June 2022, Uncle Si announced that he would undergo a critical lung surgery. This announcement came after a long battle with declining health, exacerbated by a COVID-19 infection in 2021. Si candidly shared his health struggles on his podcast, Duck Call Room, revealing that his condition had become so dire he didn’t think he would survive.
Despite his alarming health status, Uncle Si initially resisted medical intervention, avoiding hospital visits and refusing prescribed medications. His health took another hit when he began experiencing severe lung issues. He described how he could inhale without problem, but exhaling became difficult due to one of his lungs not functioning properly. This led to the decision to undergo surgery to implant a device that would help his lung exhale properly.
“I had some tests in Houston,” Uncle Si wrote in a Facebook post. “There are a few more things we have to do, but it looks like I’m approved for lung surgery. Then I’ll be able to talk your ears off with even more stories, all guaranteed to be 95% true!”

Post-surgery, Si expressed his gratitude on Instagram, saying, “The doc says surgery went great. I’m ready to get back at it, Jack! Thanks for all the prayers and support. It means the world to us.”
In a recent post on May 27, Si honored Memorial Day, paying tribute to those who lost their lives in service. However, fans were concerned to see him wearing an oxygen mask and speaking slower than usual. Questions and well-wishes filled the comments, with fans asking about his health.
“What are you doing on oxygen? You doing alright sir?” one person asked. Another wrote, “Thank you for your service si. Everything ok? Your on oxygen.” Fans quickly reassured each other, noting that Si had been on oxygen intermittently for some time, a result of his past smoking habits.
